What Is a Leaky Feeder System?
Transforming Cable Infrastructure into Seamless Coverage
A leaky feeder system uses a specially engineered coaxial cable with intentional gaps in its shielding. These small openings run the length of the cable and allow radio signals to leak out along the entire cable run, effectively transforming the cable into a long, continuous antenna. The result is reliable two way radio coverage where traditional antennas fall short, such as deep within mines, tunnels, or other RF impenetrable areas.
Inline amplifiers can be added along the cable to boost signal strength in both directions, making it possible to maintain clear communication over extended distances.
