BDA/DAS System Design & Implementation

PRAIRIE MOBILE Inbuilding Coverage SOLUTIONS

Designing Effective In-Building Communications Requires Expertise

People inside your building complain of poor cell phone coverage inside your building. Security personnel are constantly having to work around poor two-way radio coverage. Maintenance staff have to communicate with either two-way radios or cell phones depending on where they are located in the building.

These are the quiet failures that occur daily in buildings where communication systems are not properly designed to cover the entire area of the building. Without reliable signal coverage inside a structure, safety, efficiency, and productivity suffer. That’s why BDA/DAS solutions designed and implemented by Prairie Mobile aren’t just a luxury — they are an operational necessity.

Let’s talk more about BDA/DAS Systems for your Facility.
An In-Building BDA/DAS System

WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

What is a BDA/DAS system? Though they’re often discussed together (and even at times confused), a BDA and a DAS are two completely distinct components of a successful in-building communication system. Here’s a quick breakdown of the two items:

BDA (Bi-Directional Amplifier)

BDA is the muscle behind the in-building communication system. It boosts weak signals so they can effectively travel into or out of the building. It's also used to amplify cell and two-way radio signals throughout the building to communicate effectively indoors.

DAS (Distributed Antenna System)

DAS is like the internal wiring of a building for wireless signals. It takes a strong signal from an outside source or from inside the building and distributes throughout the inside of the building. It does this using a coaxial, cat6 or fibre cable network along with strategically mounted small antennas. Think of it as an indoor antenna “net” that distributes the RF signal throughout the entire inside of the building.
